2017

The egg models were Part 2 of the explorations that eventually led to the Aether project. We took those light spinning movements and forms of the figure skater in Part 1 and translated it into light fabric and wire egg sculptures for Part 2.

In building those eggs, we gained interest in flexible fabrics and how manipulating the weave changed their physical and visual properties. 

We were especially drawn to the tensile and moire properties of mesh fabric. By compressing, stretching, and layering the material in different ways in each model, we hoped to capture the full range of its versatility.
